Time Warner has been improving its offering but remains expensive. Their iOS apps are improving as well as their internet speeds, but now Time Warner is charging a rental fee for their modems - if you're going to use them for more than a year, it'll save you to buy your own modem.

RCN has a slightly better deal (saves you a few hundred over the year) but they seem desperate for clients. Most negative reviews are a year or older so it could be that they've cleaned up their act. They also through in a DVR as part of their deal.

FIOS will look to remove any copper you might have and provide a battery backup for your phone - many were left without phone service after Sandy. Though if you're of a younger demographic, you're probably going to do without copper anyway. Their speed is also supposed to be much quicker, but let's face it, once you exceed 20, what do you need all that speed for? The occasional mega-file transfer?

Time Warner DRMs all their content so if you have a cablecard or tuner-card setup and are using your PC as a media player, you need to figure out a way around it if you're looking to archive or compress. When I spoke to a dude at RCN, he was somewhat clueless and kept on referring to their DVR as if I wanted to offload content from it. Not sure what FIOS does.
