If it's for election workers then only charge those people, if it's for the general public then they aren't going to know the results before elections Canada gives them the information anyways. And at that point it's a matter of time zone semantics, which is a bit silly considering how technology works today.

What's the ethical problem? Someone in Alberta might change their vote, or not vote at all?

Weed would be a lot less popular then it is if that is how things worked. As it is people pick and chose which laws they flout. Whether it be seen as childish or not, now is the perfect time to challenge this law, by breaking it, because it's not going to be relevant in 3 weeks, and if they do enforce it there will more than a few people seeking to take it up to the Supreme Court again.

So if you don't have access to the info, why should the law change to allow you to share it? Right now it prevents an election worker from passing the info on to a general public buddy who'll then publicize it.

If you want to restrict the law to only bar election workers and media personnel, then that notion is much more outdated by modern tech than the reason for the law.

We've had access to instant communication for a hundred years now. Yet, most people still run their lives according to which timezone they're in, so time zones are not mere "semantics." Thus, you cannot hold a simultaneous election everywhere, hence the need for this law.

Yes... Didn't you read his earlier post about the importance of voter-influence?

If you're arguing people don't get influenced, then that's just stupid. If you're arguing voting doesn't matter, then why bother editing this law at all?

Weed, sodomy...you're just full of irrelevant analogies. Can you work abortion and Jim Crow into this as well?

How is preventing election workers from announcing results when they are not the authorized officer of Elections Canada to do so, outdated? Once Elections Canada posts the results then it's fair game, but until then each return officer shouldn't be taking it upon themselves to appoint the government.

Most people haven't had access too broadcast media for 100 years for their personal use.

You could just not release any results till all polls have been reported.

Hugz back baby.
I apologize to you my dearest Techie for being so sharp. The headline was what I saw initially for the article.

Sorry for not being clear, but it wasn't my own words.

It's really bad, I don't know for how long politicians are going to control us and for how long we are going to let them do it. At list we can seen some changes around the world i think we have enough...

Ironically, this wouldn't be a problem if we didn't have politicians...

Fuck you.

Or What?

I can see this being very much a case of teenage revolt.
