I had to do the same for my cat a few years ago - massive kidney failure and I could see him suffering. I held him in my arms while the doctor gave him the shots and he fell asleep very peacefully. I still miss my Felix sometimes. |

![]() I enjoy cats. I enjoy lifting them off the ground with my foot, gently, not kicking. I enjoy the "wax paper held on the paws with rubber bands" game. I have played the "put them in the grocery bag and blow in every pot hit" game. But my favorite is "kitty trampoline":

Speaking of shaved cats:
A friend of mine clued me into a cure for shedding about a month ago. It looks like a big safety razor, but it's actually thinning shears for cats. FURminator It's about $40 from a vet but Amazon sells it for $20. It easily removes enough hair to eliminate 90% of shedding. You must use it every week or two or the cat will start to shed again. Each use takes about 30-45 minutes including ten minutes of clean up. My cat loves it. She thinks I'm petting her for 30 minutes straight and is spoiled from the experience. She would let me furminate her til she became bald. Be sure to use it outside or in the middle of a large room that is easy to vacuum, the quantity of removed hair is astounding. It does make the coat less soft because it removes so much of it. It won't make the cat look silly, but it will make her less fluffy. |

call a couple local animal shelters and ask them where you can get it done for a reasonable price. Tell them of your situation and that you dont want to give up your cat and you want to do everything you can to keep him but you arent working and cant afford 500 dollars. They may know of a Veterinarian that works with the shelter that will give you a good price. I used to volunteer at Pet Adotion Clinic and they had a Vet that would donate his time. 500 dollars may sound like a lot and it is, but a DeClaw is a pretty involved procedure .Also try a more rural Vet as opposed to one that has an area where people have six figure incomes. If your cat isnt spayed or neutered it would be a good time to do it.
