Yeah, I've heard of people getting these letters before, but as far as I know nothing has ever come of it. At worst they'll cut off your service and you can just get internet from someone else.

They have no incentive to cut your service. Why would they lose you to a competitor? its stupid

did you cut back &/or quit for a while after receiving your letters?

Comcast copyright notice

I too received 4 Comcast Notice of Claim of Copyright Infringement emails all in one week but only after after I began using Comcast's free online Norton security. This is the first time in my life to ever get such a notice so I went back over any new changes I may of made to my computer and found the only recent change notable was ...

Just recently my paid for Norton 360 subscription ended so I called Comcast and found they had a free Norton security for all online subscribers which I was not aware of. After installing this free Norton I quickly began getting Copyright Infringement Notices from Comcast. So I called the number they had listed for any related questions and got a taped recording so to avoid all in depth calls of course it was of little help. I then called Comcast and talked to a general information person familiar to online questions and he was told to give the same # I just called to anyone with any copyright questions. Testing his knowledge it was clear he really did know nothing regarding any form of online security.

How ever I do recall talking to a Comcast online repairman last year who told me they , Comcast, only gave notice to those folks who kept large volumes of movies because they slow down Comcast's online service and I can understand that! He saw my small library and remarked how his was larger and that my 3-20 movie library was pretty normal. This was while I had my paid Norton 360 prescription running though and not when Comcast's free Norton was in use.

For what it's worth these notices sent to me were only for new downloads I had just deleted. In fact I never watched any of the four movies I was flagged on. After downloading I do a quick run through the movie, see if it's anything that would interest me and if not I delete them right away. These four flagged movies sucked and had already been deleted 4-7 days before I ever got their notice.

Strange perhaps is my recent downloads either yet to view or those I like n have kept, rec'd zero attention so far? Anyone out there who can relate to this I would love to hear from you.

I'm on the fence as to whether or not virus softwares are actually worth it. It seems like paying insurance, where you trade spending a couple hours every so often for constant slowness/annoyances.

Also, I never paid for antivirus software. I used to torrent Symantec, then switched to AVG.

My voracious appetite for porn has made me pretty good at both getting viruses and eradicating them, but I basically forget about viruses when I have Avast! on.

I wouldn't put Norton Antivirus on my computer, I wouldn't pay for antivirus software, and I wouldn't trust a damn thing Comcast put on my computer.

AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials. stay away from the security suites they slow your machine down more than they protect it
