As far as I can remember this is the only official reason given for thread deletion ...

Some threads I didn't want to see deleted were because of mistakes trying to fix Ichabod, rajjy and jorjo's cute game of bringing up old threads. Don't worry, I deleted those for you too. Point taken.

Also people do appreciate when threads stay on topic. I do like that this brought that up. But again, that's not the reason.

I do however, to be clear, believe in censorship.
Keith specifically said not staying on topic was NOT the reason. He also hasn't said anything about the forums being "ruined" or new people not being welcomed.

Until he (or Chemda) does this entire thread is moot.

it was the rules of that thread, the nontopical nature, that spread to other threads. you guys allowed it to happen, nobody gave a shit when happened from SNA, it was allowed to spread.

people began, unimpeded, to hijack all threads. it got its start in SNA.

a good metaphor, Arc, that you might get, is a campfire. a campfire is not bad. forest fires(mostly) are bad. they can be, and often are, started from camp fires.

does that make sense?

he said in chat why, and it was a much broader explanation. lots of people saw it, including SNA people.

Not true... Moderators can control the post whoring... spamming... and creation of a new threads that are pointless and eventually manage the amount of data on the servers (if that is in fact the main issue) so over the long term this kind of action does not have to happen so drastically again.

Somewhat.

But again, it wasn't the thread its self that was the problem, so why delete it rather than the spin-off threads and the nontopical posts in other areas?

Those few individuals should have been warned, banned, emailed, PMed or whatever, to try to correct the behavior.

Disk space is CHEAP at the moment, I don't believe that was an issue.

Yes to moderation, no to the Forums. Bye.
