But not lazy about your text-coloring, I see.
Okay, well thanks, D, for pulling me back into Film Club. I've been a bit of an absentee member for a while. The movie I choose is one that I've actually seen before, years ago, and I remember thinking it was really well done and totally fascinating. And since its subject matter is pretty near and dear to my heart (and my job), I think it's time to watch it again: I choose TARNATION. Available streaming on Netflix. ![]() |

Well doesn't look like we got much action this week, but seeing as it was July 4th weekend, that's understandable. We also only got 2 movies this week, but that's okay.
Some Quick Rules: -Those who picked the current week's movie may nominate their choice for next picker at anytime after they've chosen their movie, but ideally they will name the next picker on Sunday. -Starting Sunday, no sooner than this, the new picker may name his/her movie. -If by midnight of Monday (aka technically Tuesday), a new picker hasn't been picked it will default to the most active user if elligible, if not then to a new member. -If a new picker has not named his/her movie by Wednesday, they lose their turn and will be replaced by someone with a movie in mind. ---Does that make sense/seem fair? Help keep the juices flowing. It's already Tuesday, so Jacey/Pwnly you guys can pick whomever you want, and the next other person to post here can be a picker for this week if you want.

I remember liking Tarnation when I saw it years ago for a film class. It's good to know before viewing that he initially made the movie for $200 using IMovie on a friend's borrowed Mac. All of the footage is from 20 years of footage that he shot himself.
Once it got picked up $400,00 was then spent on the music rights/sound/print. I remember liking the score too, a lot of Low and Iron and Wine songs. Pretty fucked up life he and his mother had. And I always love movies with old home movie footage. But if memory serves the ending didn't ring true for me. A bit too much staging for a documentary. I'll have to revisit it to see if I still feel the same way. Good choice though!
