here's a fun game to do at the office. those coworkers that chew on pens, sneak the pen and put it in your ear then put it back.

change the heights of their chairs and monitors

find personal cell phones and set alarms for three in the morning.

tell the office manager that the fax machine is not out of paper. and the copier looks fine too.

these are just a few ideas to curb the boredom.

I'm the type to get way to addicted to a simple flash game for a few months then stop cold turkey, and usually those games are tower defense types... http://www.towerdefence.net/ is my new lord.

(currently addicted to Metalix Tower Defence)

I'm pretty sure no ones mentioned http://www.the-underdogs.info/ - old games that are public domain now, hence free.
If you wanted old crap like Dune, check it out. Also, if no one mentioned it yet, pogo.com is fun. (I play turbo21). make an account, win 'tokens' and buy tickets to win cash. EA bought it some time ago and its still legit.

F-F-F-F-FREE GAME TIME!

As promised, here's a selection of downloadable games. Yes, I promised that ages ago, but Civ IV and GTA IV are more important than any of my promises.

For the unfamiliar, downloadable games need to downloaded, this is a very technical process requiring possibly an entire ten seconds of thought. I'll be using the universal rounded-up Batman unit to measure file sizes with casual inaccuracy.

1 Batman

WELCOME TO THE FANTASY ZONE!
GET READY!

First some Gamma 256 games:

Mondrian Provoked features levels based on Mondrian's art and Frogger's gameplay. In English? Dodge the blocks, stupid.

Size: 274 Batmen.

Bloody Zombies has a very descriptive title. Lawnmow your way through the levels and zombies, using the crimson waves of blood from felled undead to reach higher platforms. WASD to move, mouse for the lawnmower. Volumes of viscera.

Size: 549 Batmen

Mr Heart Loves You Very Much is a short, sweet puzzle game involving pushing the square you're in and rotating the level to reach Mr Heart, who loves you very much.

Size: 255 Batmen

Dive
is a lovely underwater game with everything from penguins and squid to say hi to.

Size: 650 Batmen

1A90 is a non-scrolling side-scrolling shooter. Each hit enemy, death and bullet time out's pixel will be added to the background and each one will cause reactions with the others. You can design your own bullets and it's all about creating interesting reactions and experimenting.

Size: 454 Batmen

Sunset Runner or the Suspiciously Long Train has you saving your friend from being squished while dodging obstacles on top of a (suspiciously long) train.

Size: 655 Batmen

-----

Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! is actually a demo but I simply had to post it for it's name and out of context screen grabs. The game itself is - as Rock, Paper, Shotgun put it - 'Cluedo meets Clueless' set in the 1920s.

Size: 8.5 Kilobatmen

Jet Set Willy Online brings Jet Set Willy into the heady future 2008 where we drink tea from hover-cups in our sky castles. It's Jet silly Willy! Only online! I just spat out my hover-tea.

Size: 520 Kilobatmen

Chivalry is Not Dead is a point and click adventure game where you decide the outcome. Rather than the usual branching structure, this an adventure of bushy causality with many different things affecting many different outcomes.
In their words: 'Chivalry is Not Dead is not an epic. Like a bedtime story, it'll be over in an evening, but also like a bedtime story, it won't always be the same every time you play it.'

Size: 3.55 Kilobatmen

The Blob is set in a drab, grey city but fear not! As the titular character you can absorb the colourful inhabitants, mixing colours and painting objects and buildings as you collide with them, breathing life into the city. It's full of the kind of joy rarely seen in modern videogames outside of the Katamari series.

Size: 48.5 Kilobatmen

Trilby: The Art of Theft is from Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation internet fame. It's a 2d action stealth platformer that mixes things up admirably and arms you with an umbrella.

Size: 1.24 Kilobatmen

Droid Assault is essentially a remake of Parandroid on the Commodore 64, which is fine by me, because that was a great game. As a vulnerable droid you have to hack and take control of more powerful ones and capture all the droids in each warehouse before production can begin again.

Size: 15.8 Kilobatmen

Freedoom
is nothing new, it's like Doom but free! The new hotness is Oblige – which randomly generates levels from Doom 1, Doom 2, Heretic and Hexen. Not tried it with Freedoom yet but it should work. Oh Doom, I can't quit you!

Size (Oblige): 298 Batmen

War Twat (yes, it's called 'War Twat') is a shooter pretty much made to give you an epileptic fit. Give it a try. There's even a kids version called 'War Bus' but if you let a child play this you are a terrible human being.

Size: 2.65 Kilobatmen

Charlie Foxtrot & The Galaxy of Tomorrow is an excellent game to finish this list on. It's a point and click adventure filled with nods to sci-fi movies and tv but more than that it's a very well made, very witty game, seemingly with something to say for every click. Download it.

Size: 2.45 Kilobatmen

That's all for now, enjoy.
