Fucking iTunes, I hate you. (help needed)

Help. I'm a computer retard, so talk slow.

I updated to iTunes 7.02 or whatever the fuck the newest one is, and whenever I plug my iPod in to delete/add anything, no podcasts show up in the iPod's library. (They show up in the iTunes library, but not the iPod's). They also show up on the iPod screen after it's ejected, and everything plays fine.

The only real problem I'm having is if I need to delete any podcasts, I can't find them, and my iPod is always nearly full so I constantly need to delete shit. Obviously, they're in there somwhere, I just can't navigate this bitch well enough to find them.

Help, anyone?

There is supposed to be a setting that lets you pick what you want on your list to show up.

Podcast,
movies,
audiobooks
ETC

I bet if you found it, you would be able to check the box to Show podcast, and be able to delete them

Or delete them from the folder on the hard drive. then sync

not sure if this is what you mean, but I had what sounds to be a similar problem. And when I tried to add things or remove things from the ipod, they would appear to be removed but the 'available memory' wouldn't change. If that's the problem, I had to reset my ipod and erase everything and start over, I've yet to have it happen again. I also haven't updated itunes since then either. good luck

When you connect your iPod, go to the podcast tab. There you can select the appropriate settings. Itunes only keeps podcasts in the main directory (under library) and will sync all podcasts to your iPod that are in that directory unless you change the settings.

If you want to keep podcasts on your computer, but not on your iPod, go to the "summary" tab, you can select "only sync ticked items" and untick the podcasts you want to remove on (untick in the main directory (under library)).

Layman's solution:

Most likely when you go to delete the old KATGs in your itunes, you are looking under "Artist" -> "Keith and the Girl"

What you want to look under is "Artist" -> "podcast"

Although, when looking in itunes on your machine, in the left nav, there should be "Podcasts" and you can delete from there. Then, when you update your ipod next time, it will remove those, and you will have more room on the ipod.

Does this help?

I'm guessing you have a nano.

Like others have said, just go to the podcast tab. It is incredibly easy to make itunes manage podcasts from there.

As far as managing the space you use to store music in itunes, nanos make this a bit difficult. I also own a shuffle and I wish you could use auto-fill on the nano.

My nano is a 2gb. I leave 1gb for music and 1gb for podcasts. To get itunes to automatically update the music like the shuffle, you have to use the smart playlist feature. Personally, I created 4 smart playlists to manage my nano. One playlist is the recently added list minus podcasts limited to 250mb. One is rock not played in the last 14 days limited to 250mb. The last two are just like the "rock" one only for country, and r&b. NOw when I plug in my nano, it updates my podcasts and loads fresh music without me touching a thing.

Itunes works great if you take the time to read through the instructions for your ipod and learn to use playlists and smart-playlists to manage your music in the ipod. Once you take a little time to do this the ipod and itunes will amaze you at how efficient they are.

It's just like any other tool, learn to use it and it makes life easier. The more you learn about it and the more skilled you become at using it, the better the tool will work.

Thanks, MG.

I think this is a key to solving it...but I can't find where that setting is. Anyone?
