Greetings
Hey mother fuckers. Sparrow suggested I make an introduction thread after hanging out with you guys during the marathon.
I'm Veronica. I've been listening to KATG since the beginning. I was introduced to the show by my ex girlfriend. We used to listen to it together every weekend when we got together. We'd do marathons while driving from Phoenix, AZ to San Diego, CA, a trip we took often and spontaneously. We were together for 5 years, so when we broke up I had a hard time listening to the show for a few years, because it reminded me of her. I got back into it almost 2 years ago after I started transition and have been listening more regularly since. I'm a 27 y/o trans woman that has been transitioning full time (HRT, etc.) since May 31st 2012. I remember listening to the show when Lauren was a guest ages ago before Lauren and Chemda were together and before Lauren came out. So it's pretty cool to me that I was listening to another trans person that didn't fully realize what was going on inside and/or had the proper vocabulary/information to describe their identity at a time where I did not have the tools to do so either. Then I started listening again after starting transition and it was really cool to find out that Lauren ended up being trans and had come out as well. I'm from Arizona, but moved to London to start transition and do my MA at UCL. My family is Christian and conservative and Arizona is not a great place to be a new transitioner as a trans person, particularly a trans woman, so I started transition after getting to London. Most of my family has disowned me completely, e.g. my 26 y/o sister that I used to be best friends with, all my life, has even gone as far as to block me on FB. So alas, I'm happy to be a few thousand miles away from "family". Attached a picture of myself from October, that is 17 months into HRT/transition, just to give everyone a face to the name. I spend most of my time writing, reading and being a kinky deviant (check out my ropes, yo! kink is a huge part of my life and being the open person that I am, I talk about it, a lot, sorry!), a liberal, atheist, activist, feminist, a sexually-fluid lesbian, a nerd, and that just about sums it up! Nice to meet you all. I'll start to see you all around in chat during live shows in the future ![]() And like I said, I'm also a very open person, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I like spreading awareness about trans issues. Lauren and Chemda talked about it on a show recently, re: why trans issues/equality is so far behind gay issues and it mostly has to do with whether a trans person decides to become invisible once they have passing privilege or whether they continue to stay within the community or not. That said, I do ask that you respect my identity as a woman. I have not changed my Facebook gender to "trans woman" with the new gender options, I am a woman. Being trans to me is mostly medical details and is also unrelated to my kinky proclivities (you'd be surprised how often people mix those up). Otherwise, nice to meet those of you that I did meet during the marathon and I look forward to meeting the rest of you regulars and I'll cya all around real soon! Fuckerrrs. |
