What did we think? It's not just a movie, it's the end of the franchise.

I liked it overall but I didn't cry the way I thought I would. I always nitpick the movies and I was a bit disappointed on some of the things they left out/re arranged.

it was a sweet movie, but that it's all over with now is so bitter. i told a fellow potter dork it was "like going to the awesomest funeral ever".

there were only a few things left out/rearranged that i really noticed, but with how royally fucked up the 6th movie was, by comparison the deathly hallows must have used the book as the shooting script.

Personally I hate comparing books to movies. It will never be the same. The only person who can have every aspect of his book included in the movie is Stephen King, which is why he usually gets mini-series instead of 2-hour movies. If people want to whine and moan about how the movie didn't have this, that, or the other, then they should just not go at all. They've already made up their minds that they will never be as into the movie as they would have been if they didn't already become familiar with the source material. Besides, they're spending so much time comparing the movie to the book that they're never fully immersed in the movie.

In any case, the only scene I wish had been given more attention was the scene where Harry is walking through the room of all of the dead students. The dead Weasley twin was devastating when I read about it, and the time spent on that, combined with the amount of time given to Harry's reaction, kind of dulled down the emotional impact of the scene. This is an older brother to Harry, someone he has known since the beginning of this journey, and he didn't seem to feel a loss for the twin (can't remember if it was Fred or George).

Otherwise, I thought the film was wonderful, and was a fitting end to the series. I will miss the anticipation of new movies in the series, but appreciate what it has done for me in the last decade, and look forward to sharing the books and movies with my children someday.

Yes! All of my friends loved the 6th movie, but I had a lot of problems with it. Probably because the 6th book is my favorite. The 5th book is one of my least favorites but one of my favorite movies, so it evens out I guess.

It's Fred, and I agree they should have shown his death and paid more attention to him being dead.


The Voldemort/Draco hug and Professor McGonagall were priceless.


I had more problems with how things were rearranged. Neville killed the snake in front of like 3 people, not the entire crowd of battlers like in the book.

And what was up with Harry and Voldemort flying? They could have cut that out and added some scenes they missed (like Fred dying).
