As much as they harp on ragan fox, he really was the reason I started listening. He kept on talking about how awesome the show was, and I finally downloaded a random episode and was hooked, (it was the rafting episode).

My friend Blake entered the standup contest the second year they did it. I listened to his entry, liked the show, and ended up going back and listening to all of them until I was caught up. Now I intern for them and work for one of their guests. Weird.

In 2005 I started going through a really bad patch in my life.
Depression was hanging on me like a shroud. Weirdly everyone kept thinking I was a really happy person, but I wasn't even sure I wanted to continue to go on living. I had to find reasons to keep going. The best one I had found was I didn’t want to hurt others by having my loved ones find me dead. For the same reason I couldn’t bring myself to step in front of a bus, train, or car, as having worked as a paramedic on ambulances, I’ve seen the state drivers can put themselves in when they hit someone. I just got more and more depressed, and everyone kept saying what a happy person I was. I'd gone to counselling for my issues for quite some time, but that didn’t help. It was recommended by my doctor that I take various drugs, but after almost two years the doctor admitted nothing he gave me seemed to help and I came off them. Then late 2007, one of my brother-in-laws suggested I listen to KATG. I couldn’t stop laughing and felt better; I found other reasons to go on, and now, while occasionally I feel depressed, I look forward to every single KATG show, and I’d say that 99% of the time, I’m up, not down. I can’t afford to get the VIP; lack of money was one of the many things that had contributed to being depressed, although I don’t think it was the real reason, as I’m still constantly broke, but I promote the show as I can. I’ve been to the England show with my brother-in-law. I put the stickers I got there up when I had them, on trains, buses and the tube. I wear my KATG shirts with pride and constantly tell people about the podcast. I often take the relationship book to work, and everyone wants to read it, borrow it, and several have purchased it. I have no idea how many people actually listen to the show because of my efforts, I know there are at least three, but KATG did what counselling and drugs couldn’t do, bring back my internal laughter and enjoyment of the world. All I can say is, thank you KATG, and if I ever win the lottery, you will be rewarded. Now all I have to do is find the money to buy the tickets. |

A friend told me to listen to the dawn and drew show because it was funny, I listened and thought it was a pile of shit and i got it confused with KATG in the podcastalley directory so i avoided KATG for a while. Around this time i started listening to NLO for a while and when all that shit happened with nick starr i started listening to KATG to hear the other side only to discover it wasnt the show i thought it was and have been hooked ever since.
p.s. NLO really sucks... i stopped when the under the jello moon idea came up every show and pa ptrick beat it to death. it wasnt funny at all. |

DJQuad. He was an IM buddy, and one day he sent me the link. This was back when he was still the webmaster.
At the time I played online poker/blackjack for a living and wouldn't leave the house for a week at a time, so I just had KATG running in the background all day. |

So, the first podcast I ever listened to was Dawn and Drew. I was new to the concept and they were the top podcast on Podcast Alley. The show was terrible. They spent the whole time talking about all the free crap that their listeners had sent them and it was BORING. So I looked for something else in the comedy section of Podcast Alley, and found Keith and the Girl. I figured people in New York would have more to talk about than people living in a barn in Wisconsin. There weren't even episode numbers yet when I started listening. I immediately switched to KATG and have been listening ever since.

Several years ago, the first "comedy" podcasts I started listening to was Pacific Coast Hellway by Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff, or Mark Yoshimoshi as Keith calls him. After listening to a few not very funny episodes of PCH, I decided to google Yoshimoshi and see what else I could find out about him. I went to the PCH Wiki page and read about the controversy of Mark hiding Keith and the Girl text on his website in order to gain more traffic to his site. I had to give KATG a listen to see what they were doing and it didn't take long to realize they were a much better show to listen to. Some of my first episodes were the shows dealing with the Podshow Contract and Yoshimoshi. I have been a loyal listener ever since.

I was listening to Dawn & Drew back in the day, and they tried to start shit with KatG, so I started listening to KatG. I think that was back around episode 50. I haven't even thought about Dawn & Drew in years. I guess we know who finished that shit they started.
