I came back from a trip to Ireland and in 2008 was determined to learn the language and started listening to an Irish language podcast (which coincidentally featured Brother Love's "Summertime" - but I had no idea who he was at the time only that I loved the song). I wondered what other podcasts might be out there and browsed through various directories and listened to a couple of dozen shite ones and came across Keith And The Girl. I think it happened to be the one with Keith Farnan saying the prayer in Irish which oddly tied in with my learning the language. At first oversensitive, religious, sheltered me was a bit shocked and thought I'd go straight to hell for listening to this show. I took a small break, couldn't hold out any longer and haven't looked back since. Besides making me laugh like an idiot at the office, Keith and Chemda have really helped me toughen up a bit and deal better with social interaction. Love you guys!

When I got my first IPod I was looking through Itunes for podcasts to listen to. I would load some up and then delete them, somewhat because the content was boring or unfunny but mostly because the sound quality sucked.

KATG was on the first page one day, I downloaded the episode, laughed my ass off and went back and started downloading the back catalog and would switch between a new episode and an old one until I was all caught up.

I found KATG in April of 2007, the same month I found out that my then 2 year old daughter was going to have spinal fusion of her cervical spine in June. KATG filled my ears while driving back and forth from CT to NYC for many tests, appointments and brace fittings. The shows took my mind away from the fear and dread that was filling me up then.

My Ipod was loaded with KATG and Brother Love's CD the day she had her surgery and I listened to the shows and Brolo while holding my girl after her surgery. She had a brace on from jawline to hip and all she wanted was to lay on top of me. Again, my mind would be able to get a rest from the fear and stress of the situation by listening to them.

This summer I was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma and my daughter is going to be having another spinal fusion in December. Again, I had KATG right there along for the ride with all the tests, appointments and treatments. Without them I think I might be rolled up into a ball in a corner right now.

I think I was in 6th grade (Could have been 7th or 8th. Who knows? It was sometime in middle school.) and I'd just found out about this thing called podcasting so I Google searched podcast and Podcast alley came up. I clicked on that and went through the top shows, I picked one at random and it happened to be Spooky In The City. I didn't particularly like it, but he mentioned Keith and the Girl which I saw near the top of the list, I listened to it, and I've been hooked since.

I was working for a company that provided web development services to Podshow (now Mevio) and discovered them through fixing up their website.

Edit this was a long years ago before Podshow became Mevio

I used to listen to mugglecast a lot in the eighth grade and they were constantly saying "Who's this Keith and the Girl that's beating us for number 1? Vote for us!"
So I decided to listen to KATG and laughed so much I ditched mugglecast and never came back for it. And here I am, three years later!

Discovering KATG?

Directed to Keith and Chemda, bit some other "old timers" might remember some of these references

MY STORY - I got into podcasts listening to Curry & Weiner. Adam Curry directed me to KATG around show #4. This was back in the days before Twitter was even a podcast company, there were no iPhones, no video iPods and I had a 40 GB Gen 2? iPod looking to fill all that space with entertainment. There were some groundbreaking shows back then and oh, and what the heck was the name of that other couples show, oh yea, Dawn & Drew who went to Podshow...and where are they now? LOL - and there was a lot of time and events during all of this).

Just checkin in on how things progressed with good old Adam, I found this on wikipedia, thought you might get a kick;

In 2009 Adam Curry announced that he would divorce from his wife Patricia Paay. He then moved back to the US to live in Los Angeles with his new partner Micky Hoogendijk. His divorce with his wife Patricia Paay has not yet been finalized.[citation needed] Curry is no longer working at Mevio but is now working on the podcast No Agenda together with John C. Dvorak.

The shows does not take any advertising, but is solely listener supported. Curry has several times jokingly said on the show that he no longer is rich. Similar claims have been made by Paay in the Dutch media.

As of November 2011, Curry has resided in Austin, Texas. Additionally, Curry describes himself as a "bi-curious male."

Well, that happens when you marry a Playmate 17 years your elder...I guess?

Or, maybe Madge Weinstein finally gotten to him! LOL

It's been fun guys. Request for you though, will you make a link of "What's my name?" a little easy to find on your site....it's the least you could do for all those damn podcast alley votes I cast your way LOL

"Peace, Out"

- scott-

p.s. after poking around I saw the VIP feed thing is required to gain access, any chance my very early $100 donation to KATG has paid me some dividends that will get me to Chemda's new show :-) I've got all of the old shows floating around on multiple hard drives I've had over they years, any breaks for us old timers ;-) Senior discount maybe LOL ...I'm just playing. Seriously though, if the show is that good, pimp it up, sell it on your own or put it up on iTunes (and if it is on iTunes, shame on me I could not find it).

OK, ambien has kicked in , time to sign out, keep having fun and say high to the real Adam for me!

Here is an idea for you to kick around, go back into archives and pull content to support a "where are they now" video or podcast it could be a blast, but hey, don't get too close to Adam Curry until you understand what a bi-curious male is.

Oh, and it was great to hear Patrice back!!! I love listening to Partice!

The first podcast I ever heard was Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington's in 2006. I must have been going on about how good it was to another English friend of mine over here when he suggested KATG. He found it randomly. I wished I had listened to him the first time though, I think he had to remind me about 4 times before I actually downloaded it.
What sold it to me in the end was him telling me he nearly pissed himself laughing at a conversation about suppositories.
