other podcasters really need to stop advertising their competition apparently. When i first discovered podcasts, i looked on podcast alley and downloaded Dawn & Drew - listened to a bunch, thought it was okay. Then they bagged out Keith and the Girl, and i had zero loyalty so i went and downloaded a KATG, and it was a zillion times better. Switched that very day, and haven't listened to D&D since.

I'm similar to Marinas story- really liberal, PC, feminist, gay - and i think that shows how much talent and likability Keith and Chemda have, that they attract listeners with such different views. Even when i totally disagree with their opinions, it doesn't change the fact that i'll still listen the very next day and love it.

I got a new android phone and started listening to The Moth and risk and then saw on face book that benjita, an old friend from High School, had it on his facebook. Now I'm trying to keep up with current shows and have listened from 1 to 320.

Like evadwolrab, I can't remember how I encountered them or that starting to listen would be such a big deal. It's so vague that even back then I thought I'd heard of them from somewhere I couldn't recall, so I assume it must have been via some online reference.

Jesse Joyce's story about his throwing an iceball at some local pests and knocking down an old man instead, and carrying on as if that accident were a deliberate and shocking Kaiser Soze act. And the story about the woman on WW2baM unable to name the largest amongst the moon, an elephant, a peanut ... Patrice's tale of woe at the hairdressers. So many oneliners and other quoteworthies.

I was really impressed by the broadcast quality. Most of the other podcasts at that time sounded as if they were being recorded inside a large empty dustbin (trashcan, sorry) but here were these folk as clear as if they were all sitting chatting away on my sofa.

And that they'd talk about anything - with a default assumption that everybody's an asshole. So naturally I'll disagree with shedloads of what K (less so with C) takes as obviously true - because although there's only one way to be nice, everyone's an asshole in their own particular way.

It is a beacon. Long may its flame persist.

(In my youth I went through several stages where I only listened to one relatively specific genre of music...and everything else was either shit or dumb pop music to me....I call these "close minded stages")

...so as soon as I got my iPod I went on iTunes and started looking at all the music I could buy...of course I'm broke though, so I was looking around for something free....not much luck...but hey..podcasts are free!...wtf are those!? WHO CARES ITS FREE!

So I was looking through several podcasts subscribing to anything and everything that looked even remotely interesting...The Economist (lol), some Science-y shit....honestly I can't remember what other than Keith and the Girl I subscribed to...probably Uhh Yeah Dude, cause I know I've been listening to them for years too...maybe some of Dan Carlin's podcasts but that might've been later.

I wanted some humor along with my educational/news podcasts but what really made me chose KATG is my thing with the color green.

It's my favorite color, but I have like an irrational liking of the color and tend to surround myself with as much green things as possible, sometimes on purpose sometimes subconsciously....anyway the logo's green...so I figured "its in the humor section, funny is good, and it's green, green is good"

I was quite a few episodes behind...not sure how many...but I was listening to the show all day for several, several days...laughing my ass off the whole time. It's just a part of my life now.
ermmm THIS totally, word for word, all except the green colour bit

I had never listened to a podcast before, but I did play online poker regularly. Someone posted on the Pocket Fives forum that there was a freeroll for this online show called Keith and the Girl. Naturally I checked out the show, didn't listen to it regularly, but remembered when I decided to check out podcasts legitimately. I've been listening off and on ever since... I also ended up winning $80 in the freeroll, which was cool.
