We are not quite sure where we are now here.
The cases are rising, but we did have more before. On the other hand, now I heard about people semi close to us who died. The neighbor of Mr. Apias mother died, she was 50, a cancer survivor who was extremely careless, she wanted to live her live to the fullest now, bad timing. She went to a restaurant with a big group got it and died. My trash father in law had covid, but had the booster so he was just sick at home. But his conspiracy theory fan employee was in intensive care and his wife died. Both unvaccinated. We in Germany are doing good with the booster, better than at the start of the pandemic with the first vaccine. 40% got the booster already. Our kids, 6 and 9 got also their first shots, the approval for this age group only came 3 weeks ago. |

Omicron is horrid here, too many cases, but thankfully less deaths. My house is still thankfully covid-free.
Many close to me who are vaccinated and careful have caught this now. It feels like the early stages again, even though we are all vaxxed, even my six year old, we are scaling back our activities. Cancelling swim lessons for my daughter is on the agenda until things calm down. Things that were planned when things seemed better are cancelled again, like kids' parties and other gatherings. School is still in person and masked... Literally no idea what's going to happen in a week anymore. |

I have also no idea.
We have reduced contacts a lot again. Today I thought I might be permanently changed by the pandemic, or at least for a long time. I would love to come to New York for KATG week some day again, but I don’t see a close future in that I would feel good taking a plane. Also here at least most of the people take the measures seriously, you have to wear a mask to practically everywhere unless it’s an outdoor activity in a small group. I’ve never seen anyone without a mask in a supermarket or official building ever since we have the pandemic. I’m sure it happens sometimes but not very often. The social pressure is very strong to behave. ( there are of course people who refuse to get vaccinated, why shouldn’t we have idiots here also, luckily everyone I’m in some kind of contact, friends and family is vaccinated and mostly boostered) |

What's that like? Here in the US it's basically "eh do whatever I guess, or don't, who cares." Depending on the store, town, etc at least 50% of the customers are not wearing masks. I hate it.

Everyone who enters a store puts the mask on, like automatically. After leaving the store and walking a few meters or entering the car the mask comes off. I think someone without a mask would be in trouble with all the other people, a lot and immediately. And we have to wear the good masks, N95 or at least the OP mask. Mr Apia just said he has also NEVER seen anyone without a mask in a store since the mask mandate. It’s taken very seriously and I like it. Last edited by Apia resurrected; 01-07-2022 at 02:32 PM. |

I just read the new Covid rules I fully support them, also I must read them again, because it’s complex.
Private gatherings- max 10 people, unvaccinated people can only meet one other pod. A person who ist boostered doesn’t have to quarantine as a contact person anymore. Restaurants can only be entered fully vaccinated plus test or plus booster. Luckily no lockdown. It’s very German ( Germans love regulation) but in this case, good. |
