I Made a mistake (other podcasts)

I tried, as apparently lybsyn was down and i couldnt download my usual old KATG episode, to listen to Red Bar Radio.

What the hell?

Why is that shit listed with KATG on itunes?

These guys are creepy douches. Maybe i'm missing the big laughs, but they seem the perfect example of what gets on my nerves. Especially that fake-humorous, snide attitude. Bah.

I'm tempted to check out The Mediocre Show and Sick and Wrong in the future. But right now i am afraid of going out of the KATG radar (which includes the KATG listener/guest podcasts, of course)

I hear you, Junkenstein. I am just getting back into KATG after about a 6 months lapse. I tested some other stuff, not so much comedy, but still, found it very easy to come back to KATG after so long away when I couldn't even always get into the other podcasts every day.

Keith and Chemda should be super proud of the product they put out. It's gotta be tough some days to do a quality show, especially for free. A great listener fanbase, excellent recurring guests and a heck of a lot of laughs. I am glad to be back.

Keith and CHemda have great guests, are amazingly funny on their own, and most importantly they're two intelligent and warm persons wh9o love their audience.

The Red Bar Radio episode i listened to contained a tirade against listeners that wasnt funny, just awkward.

At least when keith bashes a listener, he's hilarious

I like Red Bar, but not for the same reasons that I like Keith and the Girl. When I first started listening to Red Bar, I wasn't sure that I wanted to keep listening, but to be honest, it's like Keith yelling at fat girls for an entire show, except it's not just fat girls it's everybody else as well (which makes it more fun for a fat girl like myself to laugh at).

Mediocre Show is just touching and funny at the same time, I really enjoy it because the people on that show seem to be genuinely nice, kind-hearted and funny people. If you hate red bar, you'll probably like Mediocre although there is a chance you might be bored by it.

Sick and Wrong is another one I recommend. When they can figure out how to publish an entire show and not just the first 5 minutes, Dee and Lance are hilarious, crass and awesome. Some of the stories they talk about on the show are the same shit I hear on every other podcast, but they usually have a unique perspective which saves me from boredom and makes me laugh or gross out.

These other shows are great, but the truth is that nothing compares to Keith and the Girl. It seems impossible to get the smooth production value paired with the real humanity of the co-hosts in the way that they do it. Usually if a show is as real as I like it, their production value sucks and they're not very professional, or if they run a smooth, well produced show, they're fake radio people who I have no interest in listening to. I think that's what we can expect from a marketplace where everything's free.

I pretty much only listen to KATG, Dan Carlin's podcasts, Giant Bombcast, Rooster Teeth's Drunk Tank, Adam Carolla, and IGN's Game Scoop and Three Red Lights.

Going outside of that comfort zone usually ends pretty badly.

That's the impression i got. That Mike guy does the same rants Keith does, only without the humour, the intelligent points and the interaction with the fans.

How does this douche have a listener base? He berates them, insults them, without even a joke. What's the point?

Yeah, it's a little bit like a car wreck that just keeps happening (to quote our forums friend Penqui). Idiots call in and either fuck with Mike, or are dumb enough to try and have a valid point and they get fucked with. It's not my favorite show, but it makes me laugh a lot, and cringe a lot.

Junkenstein, as much as I see you in the what movie did you just watch thread... You might like Creative Screenwriting podcast.
The magazine's editor Jeff Goldsmith holds a screening of a movie and afterwards they talk to writers or directors about the movie, and their writing process. Not comedy, but it's good stuff.

The red bar radio guy used to come to the forums and spam his podcast all over the place. I called him out on it for being a douche, and he quit(no idea if it's related).

Anyway, the early spam, I assume along with people from here checking him out on iTunes led to him being listed with KATG. I'm sure he's done many other things to cement the faux relationship, but there is no connection other than through spam/traffic sourcing.
