Interesting News Items discussion

Can we have a rule where don't post stories that come from "Strange but True" news site sections. Some of them seem mildly interesting, but it's so easy for me to just look at those news site sections myself.

What I'm more interested in seeing is rare gems that a fellow listener has come across and posted here. Specifically things to do with Somerset, clowning, podcasting, bears and beers, and other topics that relate to the show. Even stuff that appeared in a local paper seems interesting. But just posting bulk "Weird News" sections seems a little pointless.

Am I making any sense?

I completely agree. I have almost stopped reading the thread because of just this issue.

Only "almost" because I remain ever hopeful that something "interesting" will actually be posted.

Ah cool yeah I thought it was just me who stopped reading it for this reason.

I opened it up tonight and was wondering why it's up to page 283 and I just don't read it anymore.

Ok yeah I just posted an aussie story about a python eating golf balls but I thought it was kinda cool but also didn't find it in a Weird News post.

Maybe the thought before clicking "post" should be "Would Keith read it on the show? Or is it pointless / too long / needs pic to explain?"

but it's usually the weird but true type of story that keith usually addresses on the show (besides current affairs) because they have the most potential for jokes.

I don't read these "strange but true" new sites you speak of. I'm sure lots of us have different sites we visit everyday and hit refresh every now and then, but we're not all visiting the same sites. The vast majority (dare I say 90%) of the stuff posted in that thread, I haven't seen or heard of anywhere.

I thought the point of that thread was to provide news to KATG. I never actually went through and followed the thread, I just hear the best stuff on the show.
