Wouldn't the "peace" aid ship have been better served by the people inside sitting quietly?

The same outcome would have happened:
The ship gets escorted to Israel.
Israel makes sure there are no weapons on board.
The aid gets sent to Gaza.
NO ONE DIES.

Why even attack a force that you know is only there to forcibly escort you?

Because the stated purpose was provocation, not relief.

People seem to be missing that point.

Skew your post? I quoted you & cited your own quoted resolutions. You envoked the '48 resolution as if they were boundaries that Israel should have adhered to. You continue to think that the arab countries would have adhered to them, when the bordering arab nations SPECIFICALLY SAID THEY WOULDN'T, and they said they'd fight anyone who tried to enforce them (and carried through on those threats). So don't act like if Israel would go back & adhere to the borders of that (non-binding) agreement, that it would be all fine & hunky in the middle east because the arabs want to peacefully co-exist.

You continue to act as if these resolutions have relevance and you continue to say that the PLO has a right to defend themselves against aggressors (which I of course agree they do), but you also continue to give Israel no claim to their right to push agressors out of what was originally their land.

I'm sorry that you had to come across some people educated on the subject (I lived in Jordan for 2 years) that can speak intelligently on the subject. I know you want to sound smart as you proclaimed yourself a "student of history" & now you feel like a bitch and got caught, sorry about that.

"Stated" is a key word in that sentence. It removes all speculation on whether or not the provocation was debatable.
