Lyon is just lovely. We didn't get very far today (got distracted by coffee...I'm still recovering from it) but the bit we saw was very pretty...


The Catholic Basilica: Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere, built in 1890, but has been consecrated ground for 1000 years.

We couldn't take pics inside (fair e-fucking-nough too) so we took pics of postcards for you instead.

The walls and ceiling of the church are completely covered with fine mosaic, a lot of it gold, it looks stunning.

(grrr, why can't I figure out how to make them go the right way round )
