I sniff, but I can never tell if it is bad or not. It always smells bad to me.

I think that's because you never smell milk unless you think it's bad, so you have no real comparison to know what it should smell like. Kinda like when your throat hurts and you look to see if your tonsils are swollen, I always think they are because I don't know what they look like when they're normal.
