I just submitted 1.2 to the app store.

A whole gaggle of new good. I think everyone will like it.

I need to know who is still interested in testing KATG iPhone app betas.

If you were in the beta I don't need your UDID, but I do need to know you are still interested.

If you are not in the beta but are interested in testing beta app builds and reporting bugs, then PM your device UDID and device type.

I need a group of about 10 people with all the different iPhone OS devices to test and report bugs so I can start iterating the app more rapidly. Right now it's pretty much just me doing as much testing as I can which makes things slow.

Hayroob, you are my favorite person. I just spent over an hour in a traffic backup and was able to listen to the stream of the marathon podcast on my iphone.

Dis the same this morning

After upgrading this morning, I noticed that the stream kept cutting out way more than normal with listening via the app. the iPhone claimed full 3g reception, but the show would only play for a few seconds up to a minute at most. I'm quick to blame AT&T's shitty service, but thought you should know(it was a pretty noticeable change the moment I upgraded). I also noticed a strange rendering of the No Service notification text earlier today. Took a screen shot to show you that particular case.

The cutting out is the server being hammered silly. It was fine until the server got past 95% capacity

Doug, the new audio streaming engine is nice. Instead of cutting out like it was a lot for me when moving and having to hit stop/play over and over, it buffered and picked back up after a quick miss. The difference from yesterday to today was night and day.

I don't know if you have checked out the This American Life iphone app but they have implemented a really elegant way of playing archived shows. Might be something to check out for the future. Thanks for the app though it's great. I'll send a couple bones your way for your efforts

When that app came out the amount of awesome it contained made me feel ill. All the shit I had worked to do and all the things that I wanted to make better but told myself were to much to do, were done and perfect. It is so good that I hate it and them for making me face the reality of how good an app can be.

Expect me to borrow and outright steal from them.

The only reason I don't completely hate myself is that I'm doing this app pretty much on my own and they had a team of dudes getting paid good good money.

I wake up in cold sweats late in the night from nightmares that TAL got even better and I can never be that good.

Stream over 3G is disabled by default, go to settings, then katg and turn it on.

Or connect to wifi.

Need some help... I'm new to the iThings. Mr. DaH has an iPhone but I've never been into it until now. I got an iTouch and OF COURSE the 1st thing I did was load the KATG app!

Here is my quandry... when I am in archives listening to past shows, I can't exit out of the QT player and be using another app at the same time like I can when I'm listening through iTunes where I straight downloaded the podcast. Is this standard? Or is there perhaps a setting that I am missing? It stops playing completely.

Also, the archive shows I am trying to listen to REGULARLY (5-6 times a show) will cut out and start over even when I'm sitting in one spot and there WiFi is strong. Again... new to this fun. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

This is standard behavior. It will work in the summer with the new iPhone OS 4.0
We have to be patient till then.

Speaking of 4.0, Doug if you need some testing, I've got the beta running on my phone.

You'll need the latest iPhone 3GS or third generation iPod touch to get multitasking
and first generations iphone and touch won't be able to upgrade to 4.0 at all.

How will that effect the iTouch? :confused:

it'll open in safari's built-in quicktime and that can run in the background on the older ipod touch without the need for 4.0

You JUST got yours, right? It's most likely 3rd Gen and you'll be able to upgrade, but if it's earlier, than you're stuck.
