KATG on Sirius Radio's The Jay Thomas Show
Don't know if any of you listen to Jay, but I enjoy it. Sort of like Howard for old(er) people, and on at a time during the day when I can listen.
Anyway, he's always asking for guest suggestions, so I wrote in and suggested that Keth and Chemda would be perfect for his show. And guess what -- I got an email back from the show saying they'll be on tomorrow, Wednesday, at 2:30p EST. I didn't go into a ton of detail about the show, just used their own words, "KATG talk shit," and maybe I could have mentioned they have some choice things to say about Podshow <g>, but also that they talk about everything and anything, from sex to clowns. So if you've got Sirius, listen up! If I'm off work in time to record it, I will. I record from Sirius all the time, but have never transferred it to my computer. Is there a place here where I can upload it, or submit it to someone for uploading, assuming I am successful? |
FUUUUUUUCK YOU! welcome.
is this really gonna happen? i have to check out the show then... |
First of all, welcome to the forums, and a big
Fuuuuuuuuuuck Youuuuuu! Yes... There are a lot of options for uploading the (mp3) file to a host. Send me a Private message if you need details. But try googling: "Free file hosting" first. PLEASE record it for us. Thankyouverymuch. |
Hey, arcatacat, you used to live in Arcata, CA? I grew up in Trinidad. Small world, huh?

Now if I could only get my hands on some Moonstone Porter from Six Rivers Brewing Co. In an unrelated coincidence, I used to date a girl named Juline (in Colorado). :) |

So do you have that file sharing all squared away? Btw, what kind of file do you create when you record from Sirius? Just wondering... |
I haven't looked into the file sharing yet. I have a Creative mp3 player that has an FM tuner. I turn on the Sirius receiver, tune the mp3 to the same FM frequency as the Sirius tuner, set the mp3 player on top of it, and hit record. I'm pretty sure it's a .wav file. My husband records Howard this way -- starts it early in the morning before he goes to bed, and by the time he leaves for work in the morning the show is finished and he can listen all day at work. I haven't been able to get him into KATG yet because his day is consumed with Howard's long-ass shows!

As far as recording the show tomorrow, getting the file converted to mp3 would be best. I could listen to the wav file, although it would be big... but many people on here use mac, and they'd be assed out without converting it to mp3. Again, google "convert .wav to .mp3" and you're golden. Let me know if you need suggestions. I would love to hear what kind of airplay KATG has on Sirius. |
worst comes to worst you can convert it in iTunes. Add it to your library and click convert to MP3 or whatever your current CD importing setting is.
|
I know how to do that. Thanks, spelchek.
Although I work at home, I'm not 100% positive I'm going to have a break in my schedule in time to record at 11:30/2:30, so unless I can figure out how to edit the file down, I'm going to just upload the entire file, whatever records from 9:30/12:30 on, when I can start the recorder, so you'll all have to fast forward through whatever is on before Jay. And I'll feel a lot better about opening my big mouth about this when we get some kind of confirmation from Keith and Chemda that they are in fact going to be on tomorrow. According to the producer, they're going to be at Sirius studios for the interview (Jay works from CA, so they won't get to meet him in person, unfortunately). |

Not sure if this will work, but you can get a free 3 day trial on Sirius Radio online. So maybe we can all listen for free and record it. Who knows. Here's the link to Jay's show page.http://www.sirius.com/servlet/Conten...=1126670695399

Definitely worth a try -- Jay's show is one of the few talk stations that is actually online.
I'm still planning on recording it, but I'm stuck with how to convert it to a file that everyone here can use. I've tried converting my Creative .wav files to an mp3 in iTunes, but that's not working. I've already figured out where to upload it, arcatacat has offered to edit out the rest of the show, now I just need someone to convert it for me. Any takers? |

I use BeSweet, but it's a bit complicated. There're a ton of programs out there that will do it. Check the link. |

Excellent! Just finished listening and I loved that you gave Jay shit about his mike. Just wished I could have called in! While you're there, visit Howard!
|
I too just heard it and thought it was great. I was picking up my phone to call in as he took you off the air. I was going to ask you to speak about some of the public service announcement making you do helping protect us against robots - HUAR! - but you were off by the time my call got through. I asked the person on the other end of the phone if you could do another segment, she said, "Uh, I don't know...hold on." Then took the phone away from her mouth, I heard Chemda laughing in the background, then she got back on and said, "I don't think so. But do you have anything to talk to Jay about?" So, I said, "Um, no. Sorry, just really interested in talking to Keith and Chemda."
So even though it was too short, nice job. And funny - how a caller asked why you weren't as big as Dog and Drew. Good job retraining yourself Keith. Also, It would have been fun if you had thanked Jay with a big FUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOUUUUUU! I guess you can welcome him that way when he's a guest on your show. |

Great interview, of course I wish they'd had more time. But love that Jay was impressed with the quality of their show. Wonder which one he listened to? |
