My electricity is back, all but the igoogle version of the widget should now be working. I didn't have time to figure out why it wouldn't update. Had to go back to work.

I mean write the code so a Linux widget application can understand it.

What are popular widget platforms for Linux? I could give it a go. I've wanted to play with Linux for a while.

I have never written any codes, but i know alot of other shit about linux =P
If you don't have linux, you goto ubuntu.com they'll send you a free disc or you can download an .iso and burn it.
kubuntu is really just the same thing as ubuntu except ubuntu runes on gnome.
ubuntu i would reccomend using
