Now, see, this is more in line with what I thought you were saying before. He's wearing a cross - Jews wear yarmulkes, Muslims wear headdresses. These are passive things. If you walk up to them, even to hand them a card, you've crossed the line. You've become active, the initiator of contact. You've become the asshole.

Why does the cross bother you so much? Do you feel it on you, some kind of power, like to a vampire? It's just a piece of metal, after all.

Yes, it is every Americans right to a peaceful public protest.

I have to agree. If some dude is wearing a cross this big, you've gotta walk up and kiss em in the mouth. Less douchey than handing out cards.

It bothers me cause he can choose to wear it beneath his shirt and choose to wear a smaller size. He went out of his way to make sure I could see his religious beliefs.

The other examples I would again use good judgment. Most people choose to wear Yarmulkes that are a similar shade of color to their own hair. and this is also like the headdress their religion does not give them a choice to be less gratuitous.

Its simple, if I feel like someone is making extra un-warranted efforts to display their religion in a public place, I give them a card that says: "You have met an Atheist, Enjoy your day and your chosen faith or non-faith".

How will that harm them in any way?

Oh sure, I understand now. You've inspired me. I'll do that the tomorrow, when I see someone on the street ostentatiously lacking ash on their forehead. They're trying extra-hard to display their lack of Catholicism!

I don't know why I'm extending this, but: what size cross would be acceptable for you? Is there a Pantone color chart for yarmulkes?

Oh, don't pretend you're doing this for any reason other than to be confrontational.

For what it's worth, I'm either agnostic or atheist, depending on the definition you look at, and you make us look bad. You piss people off, and change no minds. YOU'RE NOT HELPING.

Most cities prohibit amplification without a permit.

I know my reasons. If you feel it makes you look bad I apologize and will hope my intentions and efforts will not have that effect. I can no longer lay dormant and will be making peaceful efforts to raise awareness to our kind. If I dont try, I honestly feel like I wont matter. That sounds insecure to say, but that is how I feel.

If it fails, I will brainstorm and re-approach with a new format/attitude.

To all the people who are Catholic/Christian/likes participating in lent sorry for hijacking this thread with our conversation. Good luck with your test of discipline.

I got my heart stomped on. . .
Hopefully not trying to get some and having a new nipple piercing nobody will get to see will make me feel better. I hope I can last 40 days with out sexy time though.

Are any of you giving up anything for Lent?
In all the ruckus, I missed this important post. What are you doing the day after Lent?

No. Not even sure where Southfield is...is that South-Western Ontario?

More important would be "What won't you do the day after Lent?" Giggity!
