I feel your pain...I was laid off last summer and I became a Beer Girl at a Golf Club. I ended up making more money than the job I got laid off from!

The job hired me back but I wasn't about to stick around to get laid off again. I found a new job in NYC and it's awesome:-)

Man, it must take a lot of stress off of companies to be able to fire people and blame it on the economy and say there's really nothing they can do about it.

Maybe a silly place for me to make a distinction, but I think he's getting/got laid off, not fired. There's a distinction:

Laid off -- it doesn't matter how good a person in the chair is, the execs look at a big map & go, "Get rid of the people in those 3 chairs, get rid of the people in those 5 chairs, get rid of whoever does this job and have the guy who does this other job take it over . . . " and so on. So good people sometimes go, and bad people sometimes go.

Fired -- its definitely you.

I've never been fired or laid off, but I've had to do both. Unfortunately in a layoff, you rarely get to make the decision as to who goes & who stays. Like I said, its a big map of the office with X's over desks.

Haha! Nice.

I'm starting to believe in the american recession a little bit. Being paid in american dollars used to be party time up here. But now that shitty american money actually comes out to less once it's converted to canadian dollars. I was gonna spend the surplus on a buncha party hats.

I found it. Your job was behind the couch with an old sock over it.

Unless you're into that sort of thing.

I see the black helicopters came for you, McNally.

I was on board with your "The recession is bullshit" rant then, and I'm still with it today. Life is good in America; I don't care how many people with completely fucked up perspectives and expectations are forced to come face to face with the very comfortable reality.
