Windows 7 woes

Yo dudes,
I know I only come around when I need something, and today is no different.

So,like, my computer died and I bought a new one with Windows 7. The thing is, it won't work with either of my scanners, and one of my scanners is 11 X17, so I don't wanna run out and buy another.

Does anyone know where the everlovin' fuck I can find drivers to make my shit work with windows 7, or should I turn back the clock and install windows XP.

Yeah, yeah yeah, i should have bought a mac, etc.

Also, I am in need of most programs.
Hook me up and I will draw you or suck you off.

I have an HP scanner that's pretty much stone age, and a weird off-model Mustek flat bed scanner USB Pro.(it's almost 400 dollars less than most 11X17 scanners, must be made by slaves.) Neither website seems to be on it with the updated drivers.

is there some generic TWAIN spec they respect, may get basic image capture with that, what specific models are they?

are there vista drivers sometimes those work

Yeah, I used to use a TWAIN driver for the both of them. Problem is, I haven't found a Twain driver that works with Window 7. Twain's website is pretty useless. Mark Twain's ghost would be bummed.

I didn't find any Vista drivers, maybe I should keep looking. Hell, my ol'lady had vista on her machine, so I could scan my crappy drawings there,

The issue you're probably running into is that the driver model for vista/win 7 prohibits a lot of priviliged API calls that the manufacturers relied on to offload a lot of the work the hardware should be doing.

Basically in order to build cheaper scanners some of the processing is done by the computer, but windows vista cut off the access to APIs that made this possible and often the manufacturer simply can't do anything about it.

Download drivers and upgrade your Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP with the latest updates

See if you can find it there. The older one may take a little more looking.

Their software is bundled with some spyware-ish programs, but they are optional. You kind of have to take the good with the bad when looking for drivers outside of traditional sources.
