News Ltd - Fucked or No?
I've been following the News Limited phone hacking scandal in the UK with a morbid fascination, mainly because I would love to see Rupert Murdoch go down over this. More and more heads are beginning to fall, most notably among them, Rebekah Brooks - whom I'm almost convinced Rupert was banging at some point - also the head of Dow Jones States side.
Both Rupert and his son James are about to front up to an inquiry in Westminster in the next 24 hours which is sure to be a sort of snobby blood bath and there is real talk now that James Murdoch may cop an arrest warrant himself. The FBI are starting to sniff around up in your good country to see if any News Limited affiliates hacked the phones of 9/11 victims and down under (where News Ltd controls upto 70% of our domestic media), certain quarters are agitating for investigations to start probing into whether the same sort of shitski has been happening here. So, what do you reckon? Is this the beginning of the end for News (Fox) and Murdoch's grip on global media power? |

Certainly...Surely.
As it looks now, the British PM David Cameron appears decidedly shaky as the scandal unravels and I dont think it's beyond the realm of possibility that he could be brought down by this. Cameron was/is close with both Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson - both of whom have been arrested. Down Under, where you have 70% of the media under Murdoch control, the potential for corruption is huge. There's talk of News Ltd having hacked the cell phones of serving Australian soldiers in Afghanistan which - if true - amounts to the grossest of betrayals since the media down here holds our soldiers up on a pedestal. Fuck I hope they uncover something. |

Well I just woke up to the morning news bulletin to hear that several people are contradicting James Murdoch's statements to the inquiry earlier in the week, insofar as he WAS told about emails about people who were involved in the pursuit of hacking cell phone VM accounts. They are now saying that Murdoch jnr will have to front the UK parliment and answer additional questions in relation to payments and also what he knew and when he knew it.
They are also saying he that may be charged with obstruction of justice. Serious prison time there. Couldn't happen to a nicer cunt. Last edited by Dean from Australia; 07-22-2011 at 11:29 PM. |
