North Korea

I try to avoid the news during deployment times--aggravates the ole anxiety--so, could somebody explain to me what the fuck is going on with North Koera and should I be concerned at all?

Unless China takes their side, NO. You don't. So far it looks like China has been smacking them around a bit (at least verbally) for their child dictator's behavior so we're in the clear for now.

If lunch time convos at work about what the LA times says is anything to go on, NK is threatening to nuke us from there, using their super powerful nuclear weapons, and we're all fucked and about to die.

When I brought up the fact that NK last nuke test a year ago literally fell into the ocean off it's coast, everybody seemed to quiet down.

I don't think they're a threat. LA Times just didn't have a real lead story that day, and they need to sell papers in the worst way.

I'll give you the advice my father gave me when I was about 10: There will be a nuclear war in your lifetime. Some idiot will decide against all logic that using that particular weapon is his best chance for his personal egotistical goals. It's unlikely that you'll be at the epicenter of said burst, but it will affect you in some way - economically at the very least.

That being said, I don't think you or your deployed husband have anything to worry about in the way that I think you're actually asking your question. He'll come home to you in one piece, you'll have very cute Southern babies, and the two of you will grow old together bitching about all these stupid little dictators and their egotistical plans.

One day, on vacation to the East Coast, y'all and and the cute kids will stop by for dinner and we'll have a good giggle about the early days on KATG forums. Cool?

Actually, he's boyishly excited about the prospect of fighting a proper military force. He longs to crush the flesh and spirit of an opposing uniform. It's how we roll in the Sparrow household, Hooah!

and Yes to dinner and giggles.

They successfully tested a nuke

They continue to test missiles

We have anti-missile stuff near Hawaii just in case

Our friends Japan and S Korea are probably trippin

We followed some boat to burma from there a couple weeks ago.

We are worried that NK might sell nukes to people more likely to use them

It looks like someone in N Korea is behind an attack on US and S Korean web sites for the last three days, including government web sites. Some of the web sites went down, even a couple US government ones, but mostly the big downtimes were in S Korea

Eventually China will convince them to play nice so they can make money like the rest of the world, and they will become our friends. Until then the Kim family will have a big dick contest with the US and its allies.
