I agree with Bob here, but I don't think it's possible to get non-shitheads in power. We all bitch about how the rules need changed, because they fuck us over as they stand. But the people who don't get fucked over, are the same people who write the rulebook.

You can certainly go with the lay down and die approach. Or you could actually give a fuck on every election, do your research and pay attention. When I say every election, I don't mean just the presidential elections. You know how those guys got there? They typically started by running for little things. Keep the jackasses out of the little positions and the ones that move up aren't jackasses. Yes, this is not an immediate fix. An immediate fix would be very very painful, but quick. I'm guessing those that are already at "lay down and die" aren't up for quick and painful.
