An open letter to DJ Quad
DJ Quad wrote me:
I sent this to Scotticus but wanted you to know this too. This is one of those "print it out and read it on the shitter" Emails. -- hey man.. i know this is a weird message but before the awards i didn't realize how much you supported the katg community. i suppose i haven't been paying attention enough to the actual community to realize that but i guess we each have our own way of contributing. unfortunately mine has turned out to be the one people make fun of and hate, but it is what it is. on one hand it sucks, on the other i don't mind it in the least for people to get their aggressions out. lord knows i've made conscious decisions to encourage it. it all came from a funny playful place but it's certainly not where it ended up. anyway, congrats dude. that's all. -- For what it's worth, I'm very sorry. I've done things that resulted in many things I'm ashamed of. It was honestly never meant to be outright hurtful or disrespectful, but that's the impression my actions led to. Sure I get upset about the insults, the slanderous stuff, the opinions you guys have which leads to your fans having the same, but deep down I'm a good person and I've been sort of forcefully conditioned to roll with things (no pun). To accept things and deal with it, no matter what. To Keith, I know we have a history. I'm not McNally or any other psycho in the grudge hour. Like I said, I've done things I'm not proud of and I thought my original apology was forgiven by your reply. I guess it wasn't. We were supposed to build this website stuff and everything related to it into an amazing thing. Of course I got all sorts of pissed off when I did everything for free and you said Michael was taking over. I'm better than him for that but I'm so glad he clearly knows what he's doing. Keeping it in the family sucks for me but you're in great hands. To Chemda, we haven't talked a lot but it was surprising to me when you said I had all sorts of problems with you. That couldn't be further from the truth and it shocked me to hear that. I'm not sure if you remember me saying this but my sister is gay. At first I was like omg but hearing your views, your journey with it, your openness about it, was an absolute evolution for me. Now I'm the closest I've ever been to my sister and I've realized how much I love her, without caring about her sexual attraction. You are so right about religion - it's literally the bane of our society. I know it sounds crazy but the death of Rhian affected me to the core. She was one of the strongest people I've ever met, and take it from me, whether you have a physical disability or not, inspiration is something people want and need. I cried like a baby hearing about her passing and did again when you honored her with the spirit award. Believe it or not, I personally love the community and am so proud of what you two have built. You took a hobby and turned it into an empire. I know that doesn't mean much coming from little ol' me but seeing what you've turned into is a huge inspiration for countless people. I know you don't normally reply to Emails but please reply to this one. I honestly don't know where to go from here. I don't want to just go away as far as the forums, but I don't want every reply to be a joke about a disability. Those fucks have no clue what it's like and get all pithy. I normally just put up with it, knowing those idiots have nothing better to say, but after a while it gets old. I truly want to be a small part of the community if it's not too late, if that makes sense. That's all for now I guess. I need food and sleep. Please let me know if you have a few free minutes. Phil My open response: Where do you go from here, Phil? You be nice. That's where you go. Of course jokes about you being in a wheelchair are hurtful. You're a mean asshole so people go to what will hurt you the most. Everyone knows when you say, "You think that hurts me? Not very original," that it hurts the most. Be nice, and behave. And don't accuse me of slander. And admit your fiancee isn't real. Peace and love. |

This whole "open letter" got me thinking.
Mainly thinking about the great open-faced steak sandwich I had on the weekend. Pretty fucking awesome. Normally I'm not a fan of sandwiches you have to use a knife & fork to eat, but in this case, I'll make an exception: World Pasta Championships | Media | Crown Perth |
