The Orange Box... problems
i recently purchased The Orange Box for PC. for those who dont know, thats Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal, all in one orange box, out out by Valve. when i try to play HL2 i get an error message and then it closes the game. i make it through the Valve title screen and first loading screen just fine, but thats when this pops up:
untitled.bmp before you ask, yes i have Steam. it makes you install it before you can install the games. i went to Valves online help page, but it was useless. thats why im turning to the forums. i know at least five of you out there know what i should do to fix the problem, and all suggestions are welcome.

sounds weird but set your screen res to 800 x 600 for the first run. set video settings to your choice in-game. quit. put res back to watever it was before. should start fine now.
I've had a similar prob with steam apps. |

oh shit i forgot to mention. make an image of your current setup and then restore from that image after reinstalling windows. that way, you won't have to reinstall all applications after reinstalling windows.
hope you didn't start reinstalling windows before taking the image ![]() |
