You're better off parking somewhere for the week and taking the subway around.

Personally, I like parking at the Port Authority Bus Terminal(between 40th and 42nd AND 8th Ave and 9th Ave). It's self park and it costs $28 for all day till close (I think that's 1 AM). There is also a similar self park at 42nd St. and Dyer Ave. (which is between 9th Ave and 10th Ave) at a similar price. Both are walking distance to the Broadway Comedy Club. Otherwise there are PLENTY of places closer, but expect to pay more than $20 for the night or closer to $40 for the day.

This is assuming you are only coming in for the night. If you are staying longer, as Picard says, find a place in the outer boroughs to leave your car and take the train into the city.

You might find cheep, but you won't find cheap.

Parking is the reason I almost never drive into the city.

Park out in Brooklyn and take the subway into the city. There is plenty of parking on the numbered streets down 4th Ave(in Brooklyn), the subway stops there at Union, 9th St, Prospect Ave, 25th St, and 36th. Parking around there and riding in probably takes 30-40 minutes and it's free(minus the $2 and change subway ride) and right off the BQE(Brooklyn Queens Expressway).

There may be better places, but I know that spot and it's convenient to the subway and a major expressway.

Or, you can pay for parking in the city.

here is the subway map, the N and R train stop at those stops.

Also consider hooking up with several drivers and all parking and riding in, the late night/early morning subway rides are lonely and sometimes have 20 minutes or more between trains, especially boring if you have a transfer to make.

Finally, coming into the city at 6pm in gridlock and super aggressive NYC traffic is probably a bad idea. 2 or 3pm is far better.

Going to Brooklyn is sometimes even worse at times and places. Where are you driving in from?

Brampton is near Toronto. I don't think he's going to be able to avoid traffic if he's comming in around showtime.

If I were driving this year I would park out in Jersey like last year, was fairly cheep and the lot was next to the PATH system into Manhattan. Just make sure the lot you use is open at night for when you want to leave.

Yeah, that was pretty much the point of my question. He's fucked unless he avoids NYC all together, as you suggest. But I'm sure he'll try to drive right in.
