New Jersey is a great idea, but if he's driving from totronto into NYC, his best bet is going to be Riverdale. It's the very north part of the Bronx before yonkers and a pretty safe neighborhood. If you pay attention to the parking signs you can park for free and take the subway for $2.00. Just do the research.... It will cut down on travel time too, b/c it is about 30 minutes from manhattan, coming from the way you will be driving....
