I say get a shotgun with beanbags. It's not a handgun, so you wont go carrying it around the city or anything stupid like that (I doubt you would). Also if you get broken into while your not home, if stolen, the gun is much harder to conceal for a theif/stolen gun seller. Just a thought. Maybe hang it above your bed like a conversation piece. Just joking.

Getting a gun for protection is up to you guys as adults but if u do get one i think rubber bullets should be the way to go. That way you have the intimidating factor a gun brings but to some extent your actions with a gun wont be so "permanent" .

One thought you guys might want to look into though and thats what if in a burglary the fact that you have a gun increases the danger that u might be in? The burglar might not have wanted to harm you but what if because you had a gun he felt the need to use violence first? Its just a thought and i realize that sometimes criminals do have the intent to do harm to their victims but i think the majority of them will not, unless they feel threatened.

i have shot plenty of rubber bullets into crowds and your lucky if no one is hauled off to an ER after that.

As crazy as this may sound, I am in a play right now and we use what we call "stage guns." While they're filled with "blanks," they actually do shoot out debris, but not enough to cause any noticeable damage unless it's like against a thin piece of paper.

We have side-firing which means that the powder and whatever else comes out shoots out the side. That way Keith would have the scare factor of a gun that looks and sounds like the real thing, which is going to freak out an intruder who's already nervous as it is.

We also have a forward firing that can sting if close enough range, but it's just as loud, if not louder, but the only thing that comes out is powder. So, they're not really blanks since something comes out.

im a dumbass because, as you say, theres no way to make it nonlethal, because youve fired rubber bullets into crowds...and not killed anyone, and youre lucky when nobody goes to the hospital?
