Tattoo Discrimination

Tripso.com is one of my favorite travel blog sites. Today a columnist mentioned Joel Madden from Good Charlotte almost denied boarding on Monday on British Airways for being too tattooed:

tripso.com | No tattoos please, we’re British

BA's contract of carriage does not specifically say anything about tattoos, but if you are flying first class on many flights (and I am sure they were; Nicole Ritchie was with him), you are required to adhere to a certain dress code. Also, flight attendants can ask you to cover up what could be considered offensive.

It sounds fair enough to me. It's business class, therefore be smart!

What was he wearing? I mean, if there is a specific dress code--which I assume is your traditional business suit or something akin--either he's tattooed every inch of his body like the tiger dude, or he was dressed incorrectly. The tattoos would have little to nothing to do with it.

As someone who regularly inhabits the business world, this statement makes no sense.

While I don't care for his music, i think it's bullshit. He's a jeans & t-shirt kind of guy (99% of the time he's wearing shirts that just say "made" cause that's his label and he's a whore) and the airline has said that they don't even know why this attendant made him follow a rule that doesn't exist. Maybe the person just really hates good charlotte.

Maby BA just have a taste in music and denied boarding on account of his shitty band then concocted this lie because there PR people deemed it less damaging... at least that's what I hope.

Also I bet he was a dick about it and started ranting about how its his right to dress how he wants, the same thing would happen in a top class restaurant, if there is a dress code adhere to it, I'm sure a long sleeve tee shirt wouldn't kill him to wear for a flight.
