bitRipper is a tiny, easy and simple way of ripping/backing up your dvd.



One button press and it's a-ripping. You can also fiddle with options if you want to.

Hokay, anyone who's using Digsby needs to stop doing that now. Lifehacker cover it in full but they recently filled their program with crapware that monitors your actively, uses your CPU and connection and more besides.

Trillian Astra left beta recently and replaces it nicely.

It allows you to put eleven kagillion free, portable utilities on your thumb drive and keeps them all updated from one program - essentially making that thumb drive a 'kit' for 'tools'.

Every program downloaded - from virus checkers, to recovery to dvd burners - takes up a mere 270mb.

I use kmplayer, is that based on mplayer? Terrific software.

i believe kmplayer uses mplayer as the backend.

on linux there is a package similar to SpaceSniffter called Filelight. its a qt application. i know there is something similar for the gtk-centric desktops out there but this works really well..
