I have the last four acts to complete on Insane in Gears 2. Might finish that tonight, maybe tomorrow.

What kind of local support does Gears have for guests?

Oddly enough, I just picked Gears 2 back up last night after a month and a half hiatus. That insane campaign is frustrating as hell, especially the end of the tank section where you have to topple that tower. As soon as the two minigun dudes activate, I have about five seconds to take the tower down or my tank blows up. I remembered why I stopped playing that game. I did play some multiplayer, but for some reason I can't make myself get into Horde mode unless it's for achievements.

The trick for me was backing down the ramp until Marcus shouts about the tower, and then boosting up and around the corner. Once Baird repairs it, peek round the corner and fire at the towers.

I've been finishing up Fable II and Little Big Planet for the past week. Just picked up Fallout 3 today. My laptop died three weeks ago but my i7 machine will be arriving tomorrow. A day till I return to Wrath!

i was like... always at the bottom on every type of game mode i played online. sometimes i never even killed anyone.

maybe it's cause its my first day. or maybe im so used to cod 5... one or two bullets.. they die.

Gears is a very special type of online. You need to know the intricacies of everything. Aiming with the shotgun at close range will not work, for example - you need to melee someone who's close to you and then shoot from the hip, and if you get it right they'll shatter into chunks.

There are tons of weird little strategies like that and it sucks. Early in the lifecycle of Gears 1 I realised that the online was just not for me and I bought 2 in the full knowledge I would only ever play the campaign. Horde mode was a massive bonus, though.

You also need to use cover a lot. :P

Or, you realize how cheap the Gears 2 multiplayer is when you figure out to just stun your enemies with a freaking smoke grenade before you run in chainsaws a-blazin'.

seems i need to unload two full mags into someone before they die. doesnt seem right. i need more xp i guess. big difference from cod.
