I just downloaded the Resident Evil 5 Demo off the PS3 Store. Not too exited for it anymore. I'm not digging the controls, I felt like I was fighting the controls more than fighting the zombies.

I hope they make the necessary tweaks and fixes before the game comes out in a month. I'll probably still end up buying it though, because I'm a sucker for Resident Evil.

RE annoys me now. Instead of innovating controls to make it tense, they remove the ability to move and dhoot. or move with your knife out or do ANYTHING when not standing completely still.

Quicktime events that frequently should be ILLEGAL. grr.

sigh. I wish franchises would stop printing money. Nintendo is the worse, with Capcom very shortly behind.

It makes me realize that games like God of War, regardless of the lack of major innovation, still show great changes and can still seem like one hell of a great step forward.

That said, I'm going to play the PS3 ripoff of GoW, Heavenly Sword, finally

I still need to try and get uncharted. I'm amazed that it is STILL at such a high freakin price, although based on the demo, I doubt I'll be excited by the game itsef.

I'm shocked that SH3 could be anybody's favorite game of all time.

Shit- I'm shocked that SH3 could be anybody's favorite Silent Hill game, for that matter.

Maybe I'm in the minority.

I dug SH2 and SH4, but had a hard time getting into SH3 because the protagonist didn't seem to have the inner-turmoil that was present in the other games (i.e. did I kill my wife? did I kill my brother? am I a total fuckin' psycho?). Also, the story's focus on the "birth of a god" and the cult wasn't creepy enough for me.

Heavenly Sword and Resistance, the first one.

Resistance has me iffy. It's a pretty substandard FPS. it seems to have something interesting about it, but the graphics remind me of Doom. I'm not sold, and maybe it's just about being able to go into cover, shich is something that makes a whoooole lot of sense.

anyway, we'll see how it goes.

Now, Heavenly Sword. I give it a 14 out of 10 for production value, voice acting and in-game/rendered graphics.

The gameplay gets a 7. It's OBVIOUSLY a god of war wannabe, it never hides that, but it fails in a lot of ways if you compare it.

I also HATE HATE HATE quick-time events. i have a horrible short-term memory and to mess up, get tossed back into the fray with a boss that now has almost its entire health makes me angry.

I also hate "unblockable attacks" that are just cheap.

I KNOW i need to increase my ability to learn combos, and I'm sure it will get a whole lot better once i do.

But grr for now!

Resistance 1 sucked. I played it in co-op and we were dying to be done with the game 4 hours into it. That's sad. By comparison, I had more fun with Army of Two's co-op and played through the campaign twice in co-op, and I'd rate that game no higher than 7/10.
