What Game Are You Playing At The Moment?

Gears of War was the most overrated game of that year. FACT.
The only good thing about that game was that satellite laser gun that you had for maybe an hour or less of the game. It seriously was a borefest before and after that. And yes I did play it to completion, on coop mode in one sitting on hard mode(or whatever is one above normal mode). Took about 6 hours and that was only because we died a lot.

Im not willing to extend that much towards the game.

I think this game is special for the simple fact that it found an innovative way to play like a FPS but in third person perspective.

I would love to see Diablo 3 Designed with the same graphics and camera. I just think that would be awesome.

I enjoyed what I played, just not alot of it to enjoy and had 0 interest in playing it a second time.

GOW2 is not the number one game im looking forward to, but I do expect to pick it up as soon as I finish Fallout3.

I thought the Gears of War multiplayer versus mode was fantastically entertaining. You could chainsaw the face off your buddy with gratuitous splatter and sound effects. Lovely. what more could you possibly want!?

I'm inclined to agree. Good art and color can't make up for unfunny.

And just to weigh in- I agree with Badger that Halo III was more overrated than Gears of War. While I'm not a big Gears fan, at least it brought some new features and eye candy to the table. Halo was just more of the same.

And I hate it when people end a sentence with "fact". Fact.

I do feel like punching people in the face when they put Halo anywhere near the toplist of games, but Halo 3 was Halo's central design mechanic refined and placed in massive spectacular levels with superbly maintained online play (albeit with the idiots on live) and great features like forge and that camera mode.

It's far from the game that some people will tell you it is but it's a solidly made console FPS with spectacular moments and fucking COLOURS, which is rare in modern games.

While we're on CAD, sure he can draw a train but that fucking copy and paste art:

I don't disagree. I put much more time into Halo than Gears. I'm also a Marathon junkie (I'm going to hold my own Mara-con someday), and I was happy to see some references made throughout the game with the achievement, unlockable helmet, terminals, etc.

Halo 3 is basically the polished pinnacle of all things Halo. I still maintain that it's more overrated than Gears. I thought Gears got only slightly more credit than it was due, whereas Halo got much more credit than it was due.

I'd argue that's more a console players only playing console FPSes thing.

On Marathon, and I think I may have even said this to you before, the single worst thing about Halo is that we'll never see another Marathon game.
