The first one looked like garbage, but man, this one I might have to pick up. And btw, the first Bad Company was pretty decent. Great multiplayer - so so single player. I sunk a good many hours into that beast. |

Got FF13 from Canada yesterday ( they are not that strict with streetdate ), played for about 6 hours. Alot of buttonmashing in the battles, Looks and feels like the Final Fantasy:Spirits Within Movie, but with less gameplay. Chrystalis upgrade system is like the one in FFX, havent seen a cardgame yet. Oh you also have the "dress" system from FFX2, but for the whole team. Several character is basicly back from earlier titles, but with new look and new name. Wimpy happy girl that stumbles alot from FF8 Cool black dude with temper problem from FF7 Sweet innosent blonde girl from FF7 Hardcore ex soldier girl with attitude from FFX2 and FF6 Tough female bar owner from FF6 and FF7 ...and so on. Worth the price of the game ? You bet. How big FF nerd am i ? I HAVE THEM ALL!!! ( but to be honest, only finished about 7 or 8 of them, some of the last bosses are almost impossible.) |

I'm totally excited for FFXIII coming out this Tuesday. I've kept myself in the dark in terms of characters and storyline, but I've loved all the FF games, going waaay back to FFII for the SNES.
It just sucks that FFVIII and God of War III both come out a week apart from each other. I wanna give both these babies my undivided attention. |

Just picked up BioShock 2 before the marathon, so I had for that in order to start playing. I was a little skeptical before getting this because I loved the first one and being that the "sequel" was developed by a different studio with a different direction, I was fearing it wouldn't be able to stand up. Anyways, I eventually talked myself into getting it so I'll soon see if it's decent enough.

I picked out some games from my (newly organised) steam library to play in a window while listening to the marathon:
Chains simple, fiendishly difficult puzzle game with a nice art style that does an impressive job of constantly changing and innovating. I got stuck not far in but I'll be back for more. Eets well, it's Lemmings but that's no bad thing. Surreal sense of humour and a level editor make it stand out. Portal mostly just to find the new radios and take part in the ARG. Portal 2 has now been announced but we found that out already ![]() Peggle is Peggle. Peggle is good. Trials 2 I am terrible at this game but I can tell it's well made. Cogs didn't work. King's Bounty absolutely the highlight. Beautiful fantasy RPG with a sense of humour, fun (hexy!) turn-based battles and surprising depth. This is what I wanted from World of Warcraft and it's a bloody bargain to boot.

I'm going to switch completely over from MW2 to BC2. MW2 has some fucking bullshit; if you want to be any good, you essentially have to camp in a building. If you kick ass and hold your ground, enemies spawn behind you because all of your fucking teammates stopped spawning on you because they're fucking pussies.
If you charge into enemy territory and start messing them up, you get a Predator up your asshole because of the douchebag who has 0 kills and 10 deaths. I never got killed by a fucking asshole spawning behind me in a Battlefield game, and I never got killed because my teammates sucked too hard in a Battlefield game. Fuck Modern Warfare, I'm ready to return home to Battlefield. |

Modern Warfare 2's campaign mode had one of the shittiest, unplayable final sections i've ever seen. It was like playing those old cartoon like games where the scens unfolded before you and all you could do was push a button at the right moment.
Battlefield has always had better mutliplayer, so fuck Modern Warfare 2 (i love the first too much). Going forward in my "I love valve" phase by re-playing "Half life 1" and "Portal". HL is old but has aged quite well, and convinces me even more that the Half life series is more of a FP-Action Adventure series than a straight shooter one. There's platform jumping, puzzles, driving, creating traps.... The shooting isnt even that important. That said, i have a hard time playing this game with a straight face after watching Machinima's video series "Mind of Freeman" ("I'm on your side you IDIOTS!!!! How many of you do i have to kill to make you understand") Portal is still the mindbender of all mindbenders. Even if i solved all the chambers, catching the right moemntum from portal to portal, defying gravity and any traditional gaming rule to end a test gives me an immense satisfaction. And Ellen McClain playing the greatest villain of gaming history is still as hilariously terrifying as the first time. "excellenT. You (Subject name here) must be the pride of (subject city here)" |
