Plus Im starting to favor games that only require between 8-15 hrs for a complete campaign experience and if they offer re-playability via "open world sand box side questing" then I can casually eventually accumulate 100+ hours of gameplay. But it seems I can only do so, when it feels optional to the main quest. With all the great games out right now like Mass effect 2, Red Dead, Alan Wake, Borderlands, Darksiders, Mario Galaxy 2, Splinter Cell, and exct... If any of these games interest you, bailing out of FF13 might not be the worst idea. So many great games out right now it becomes hard to excuse feeling bored or annoyed for any kind of long term grind. Maybe someone who completed FF13 will have a less ignorant opinion. I guess Im officially considered an ex-Final fantasy fan. |

I did manage to finish FFXIII, and so did my girlfriend. It was both our first JRPG (aww, how cute, eh?).
Man, sometimes I thought the grind would never end! But then it did and I was treated to some nice cinematics and story. So, if you're about 7 hours in and aren't drawn to the story thus far I'd say either take a break from it for a while or just forget about it altogether and get rid of it. Both my gf and I liked the story... a shit-ton of people fucking hated it though. The consensus is that the story picks up in the middle (about 15-20 hours into it haha), keeps a good high and then kinda fizzles out at the end. Don't keep playing if you're not in it for the long haul. The game is very linear to a point, so I can guarantee you've got another 30-35 hours minimum to get to the end. Just keep that in mind. And like madeye said, there are a bunch of other great games out right now. Maybe trade it in for some Red Dead Redemption? RDR doesn't disappoint! |

Finally got around to playing BioShock. I've had it for well over a year just sitting on my Steam account and decided to play it the other night. Very, very good, love it. Some bits are scary as hell and the story is excellent. I'm thinking the second one is worth investigating as well, what do you guys think?
I'm also patiently waiting for Fallout 3 to download. I bought it on Steam over the weekend when it was 50% off but our net got capped at the same time. 45kb/s download for a 9GB game is not cool man, not cool. Especially when I have to run Fusion to download it when I'm on OS X. Fail. |
