They have the right to be pissed off when your shitty gameplay is directly affecting their own. It's the same reason why the nerds and fat kids always got picked last in P.E.

Uh oh, the 500 pound firefighter can't rescue the children in time. Oh well, I guess it's not his fault that he doesn't hit the gym and fix himself because being under qualified is something we should all be OK with.

The problem is, the people he's speaking about EXPECT you to be awesome and berate you for not knowing what to do.

I highly doubt he was an ass. But maybe he was. From experience, I can tell you that even if you come from a good place, hell - sometimes even more so, that a lot of the people who are very skilled will be the same "nerds" that Keith has complained about. They think they're smarter, cooler and more elite. Fact.

HUH? You just compared video gaming to saving a human life?

Salvia really fucked with your brain, didn't it?

It's a fucking video game. If you play it, expect to play with n00bs. When you start ANY career, you have to start at a very low, unskilled level.

You're saying that if you play something in a casual sense, don't play at all and expect to be picked on because you're not teh awesomest.

i think he was talking about being in a new situation for the first time.... joinig a PUG to finish a quest or raid and how the guys how do these quests everyday expect or ONLY want a experienced guy on the team.
i agree, in any game you are going to find some noob. especially if its a popular game. just try jumping into halo3... i swear its full of sex nuts and retard strong morons running around, bunnyhopping, and shooting aimlessly in the air while spinning in circles and singing 'my humps'
also, not everyone in wow or MMO's are hardcore elite. there are casual guilds that just want to play with other cool ppl who arent mortards. ive been thinking of going back to wow. the shit just keeps on calling me and calling me

Yeah - I'd like to adjust.

If you're someone who is willing to learn, and WANTS to learn but hasn't the foggiest clue of what they're doing, they deserve to be given a break. They're trying. Fuck you if you're being an asshole.

Then there are the people, like those I play horde mode with sometimes in Gears 2, that deserve to have their faces hosed into a dirty scottish toilet. They don't try, they just make the experience completely stupid for people because they are directly subverting the potential enjoyment of anything happening within the game.

Those people suck ass, and should justly be berated.

Fair?

Yeah, it depends on the context as to how noobs should be treated. I think it should be universal, though, that one doesn't use their self-described propensity for spending time in the real world to defend themselves, regardless of the context. It's a dumb point; it states plainly that one use of time is inherently worse than the other, and yet the person saying so is not only burning time with the worse choice, they won't even commit to the time to make the experience better for them and the people they play with. It's the same kind of thing as saying "It's just a game." Why the fuck don't they just turn the stupid shit off and go outside then?

Even if a noob is justified in their bashing of elitist nerds, pulling out the "real world" card is a fail in every situation.

"It's a game" is appropriate to use if someone is SERIOUSLy freaking out about actions you're taking, and by seriously freaking out, I mean screaming, swearing, and literally flipping out.

Getting upset at people for ruining experience is not a fair "It's just a game" card. I do it, like I said, with horde mode, L4D, etc.

So I think in the end, we agree.

Simply put - Swiggy, you're right in being upset about mistreatment just because you're not 100% up to speed.

But if you were an asshat going into it, and expressed your "Well I have a life OUTSIDE of the game so I'm not as good as you" mentality, then go fuck yourself.

Agreed?

Indeed, that is spot on.

The comparison is that in both scenarios you have people around you that are counting on you to do the right thing. When one person fucks up, we all suffer the consequences. In firefighting it could be a lost life, in games it will be wasted time.

And I totally agree with what you guys are saying about this. So much more eloquent than I ever could have put it.
