I'm looking for some help. I am training for a sprint-triathlon (by running, lifting weights, cycling, and swimming) and I know what NOT to eat. Problem is there is so much info on diets, etc.

I need to find a few good resources for 400 calorie meals (I'm eating 5 400cal meals a day). I need to make sure I am getting a variety so that I get all the vitamins, nutrients, etc. How many carbs, how much protien, when to eat what, etc.

Any good webiste recommendations?

livestrong.com has a user-submitted database of nutritional labels for pretty much everything now.

Haven't used it for diets though.

Thanks. I've actually been using that to track what I eat and do.

I'm not really dieting (although I am eating fewer cals and losing weight). It's more of a permanent change. I am just looking for more alternatives and advice on when to eat what for better results when working out.

When at Boot camp, I was doing something similar. It was suggested just to follow the USDA guidelines... simple too b/c all that info is on the box ! I was told to eat at least 60g protein and 25g fiber. You pretty much have to eat healthy to get those goals.... Livestrong is ok, but thew problem is that who knows if that person input the info right or wrong? Hard to trust as alot of people entering info are newbies that don't count all the calories etc..... (ie enter hamburger but don't count the bread and cheese etc... or do count but don't reltae that info to the user so you over calculate....

Best idea is to track your own... Suprisingly after bout 2 weeks you have all the info you need.

For food labels, you have to submit a picture of the label along with your entry so they can verify it, the stuff they go through has a *VERIFIED* label next to the name. You also usually get a bunch of different but related results, so you can see the ones that make sense, if one stands out as obviously wrong (hasn't happened to me yet), you can just ignore it.

If you're putting in home-made foods, I'd go with putting the ingredients in individually, you can find calories for a bun and a burger patty, then put them together.

Thats a good point, realizing now I was thinking about take out or restaurant food when I wrote that.... Didn't mean to misguide :-)

So My working out is going good, down about 20 llbs or so.... I feel lighter ha ha... And people that don't know I am doing what I am doing have started to notice my weight loss as well (always a good sign)

I'm training towards a 10k, currently in week 2 of 8. Ran ~10 miles last week will run ~11 this week. On the days I ma not running I am hopping on the elliptical and doing stregnth training on my upper body and core only.

I'm getting bored tho it seems.. I was lazy in my run today, not trying to sprint really at all or push myself, maybe I tried too hard on sunday during my long run (3.3 miles) and it tired me out.... Maybe I'm not getting enough sleep, or my eating habits are getting in the way of my goals right now.....

Any suggestions on kicking it up a notch during my workout? New running route maybe (I always run the same 1.1 mile route)

deznice, one thing you don't want to do in your workouts/running is get bored. You begin to lose motivation, don't push yourself as hard, and it begins to feel like a chore rather than something exciting.

You say you always run the same route. Switch it up, find a different route or do some trail running (if that is possible near you).

I'm slowly building up to running. I haven't got the stamina yet to go for 10 miles without my lungs feeling like they're ripping in half.
