Oh, I forgot to add that parents knew each other for three months and then got married in vegas.

20 years later they claim they hate each other but at the end of the day, they are still going strong.

My parents are divorced. I'm always confused by people talking about it like it seriously shocked them or had a big effect on who they were. As a kid I'd listen to them yellin' at each other, and they got divorced after a while, and I couldn't have cared less.

Freaking awesome.

Anyone else have the story of being the reason your parents got married?

I was an accident so they "had to" get married... and quick. Lasted nearly 16 years.

I think it depends on the age of the kid. I was 15 when the separation and stuff began, 16 when it was over. It took a HUGE toll on me and actually still does. There are so many things that are so much harder.

Also, it was unexpected. I never heard them yell or fight, only a few little arguments.

I love being around my bf's family. I've never seen a closer family with so much love. I go over there even if he's not there. That feeling of family is missed so much.

I think that the great irony about my parents' disaster of a marriage is that I was actually planned.

I don't know how long they were together, but I do know that they split up when I was about a year and a half old, and that I went to live with my grandparents and didn't see them in the same room again until I was 12. My dad's pretty much always held that my mom's crazy, and my mom vacillates between saying that my dad is a loser and a bastard and saying that he's her oldest friend and companion.

Although they broke up in 1985, they didn't divorce until 1997 and neither of them have ever remarried, although they've both had some long-term relationships. Personally, I think that them separating and giving me to my grandparents was the best possible choice, and as fucked up as I am, it's not because of their divorce.
