Fantastic episode, looking forward to this week's What's Up, A.

The Hell's angel guy getting cancer and dying in a month bit was amazing. It's always nice to get some good cancer news.

Both of my parents were United Methodist ministers. I could never see them threatening anyone. They taught me to "turn the other cheek" in any sort of situation where there is an aggressor, that anger/violence comes from fear, and that understanding goes further than retaliation. My father was an extremely peaceful and noble guy that touched a lot of lives through education and philanthropy.
That being said, they raised me to be so fucking passive all the time, it took me listening to Chemda to actually grow a pair in a lot of social situations where I should be sticking up for myself. Thanks, Girl! |
My mother (the school board president) threatened the middle school principal when teachers were trying to hold my brother (who now has a doctorate) back a year. As the story goes, the principal got backed up the the back wall and was trying to dissolve into the blackboard.
As a parent and with that history in mind, I about went nuclear on my son's teacher when she moved him from an a to an f in 2 weeks with no notice. I still get mad when I think about it. |
Not bad: 75% of the people on this episode wanted to be there.

Just looked at the pics for this episode and THEY'RE AWESOME! Anyone who is not checking them out (especially when you're listening on the app) is WRONG AND SAD!
Peace and love. Chemda |
my mother definitely never insulted or threatened anyone in my defense. Quiet the opposite, in fact. Once in elementary school a girl in my class, like 2nd or 3rd grade, was told I was making fun of her and she came over and slapped me. I didn't hit her back. When I told my mother what happened in school she told I probably did something wrong cuz girls would never hit a guy for no reason.
She and all my family were always too concerned with what strangers thought of us |
Was just listening to this show, catching up....
I've threatened adults on behalf of my kids. I'm not proud, and the adrenaline of it made me sick. BUT, how will my boys know how and where to draw a line if they don't see how it's done? I've also threatened my wife's boss, when he made her cry at work. She was about 7 1/2 months pregnant at the time. That one I am proud of; the whole office watched me and heard me do it. Apparently, nobody was afraid of him anymore, and he quit shortly thereafter. Last thing... Jena Friedman - [* sound of Keith ripping paper *] |
