Anyone that hears about Bianca's situation and who wants to help out should check out www.bethematch.org. The process for donating the bone marrow (or blood stem cells as they use now) is often less invasive than even what Bianca described.

I put myself on the bone marrow donor list 15+ years ago and it was a blood test then but now they just do cheek swap so it's no big deal, everybody just do it.
Chances you are called to actually donate are tiny but if you are it's literally saving a life and maybe that's different in the US but here nowadays the actual donation is from blood not the old-school drilling into the hip so even that is easy.

Also get an organ donor pass because you don't need that kidney if you are dead.

Was considering going on the list for a while, adding myself to the list today. I'm O pos, if that helps for Bianca (does blood type matter here? I assume it does...)

I signed up about 3 years ago. It's a really simple questionnaire and then they send you a cheek swab kit. Super easy to get registered!

Apparently there are a lot of factors involved in matching, and most people will never get called to donate. Earlier this year I got matched to one person who ultimately decided not to (or could not) go through with the procedure.

I just found out I'm too old to sign up.

But Alicia is doing it for/because of you, Bianca.
