I know, in Chicago at least, that means you have "roommates" and don't "own" where you live and will spend at least 5 years paying off your $10,000 car.
I'm under the impression though that anything less than $50,000 in NYC ain't gonna cut it?

Take home is going to be even less than that cause there is a NYC payroll tax just for living in the city. I think it runs around 5%.
