My college banned frat houses because they were so rowdy and horrible and rapey, but the only thing that did was make the frat roll-call skyrocket since there was no limiting factor like housing. The only thing I knew about the frats was to stay the fuck away from them, and there were a number of girls who got date raped every semester.
Also, in an attempt to curb the frat takeover, my school put a hold on any new greek orgs, which only embroiled them in controversy because a jewish frat wanted to open on campus and got denied and there was a whole racist mess.
