Being as accessible to the listeners as you are, it is very easy to imagine a friendship with you two. That's one reason people have so much fun with you online and in person, that's one reason people feel comfortable sharing so much detail about their lives with you, and that's why listeners even show up at your house (as inappropriate as that is). Yeah, that's what I'm saying Todd. It's not that the initial flash of anger itself is generated by selfishness and entitlement. Their anger is a natural enough response to being decieved.

But the desire to communicate that anger without considering what the situation has meant to the hosts' own emotional lives absolutely comes from a place of selfishness and entitlement. A listener who only posts about themselves in response to an episode in which the hosts have revealed they've been through an extraordinary amount of anguish is selfishness and entitlement personified.

And what you say about it being "very easy to imagine a friendship" with KATG is exactly what I was saying at when I said some people need to pull their heads out of their asses and get some perspective. Because unless you're someone actively connected to the show like Rellek or Newsy or Doug or McNally, then KATG is 100% about the entertainment. It's 0% about making friends with entertainers. Keith even explicitly explained his take on "friendship" in that recent episode with Myka and Myq. Any listener who still thought of KATG as their "friend" after that is living in a dreamworld.

That's why Kyle's comment that many of the reponses reminded him of (a hopefully less sinister version of) Eminem's "Stan" was so on the money. Some of these fans are genuinely deluded about what KATG really is.
