I'm with Keith on Severance. I enjoyed it but I just KNEW it would go one of two ways:
Either "the thing" would turn out to be disappointing (this is how Devs went), or We would never learn what "the thing" is. Severance went HARD the 2nd way and for that it can go fuck itself. |

I loved Severance Season 1.
Apparently the writers of the show wanted to tell more but Ben Stiller wanted more mystery according to this interview. From the Article: Quote:

I mostly agree with Keith about Severance too - I just want a show to tell ONE complete story - I'm totally fine with the last episode introducing a new mystery or cliff hanger to pique interest for a second season but they need to finish SOME story to call it a "season". Just make a longer season and tell your whole damned story.
Also - the pacing on the show was weird - the story built so slowly for so long and then the last two episodes were like a bullet train running into a wall (super fast and then an abrupt stop). It definitely feels like the writers had a whole story and at some point they decided the first season should end at that point in the story and they had a contract for 9 episodes so they had to make everything up to that point fill 9 episodes. They could have moved at a faster pace and told the whole story (beyond where season 1 "ended") in 10 or 12 episodes. I will probably watch season 2 because they've made me curious BUT I'm pissed off about it AND I'm not even convinced that my curiosity is warranted yet which is even more aggravating. |
