Ok, ok. I was compelled to do the math myself.
Disclaimer, I am using a few more 'realistic' generalizations that Keith did based on the typical American. $200,000 over the working lifetime. For our purposes, you figure you start earning your own way in life at 18, and retire at 65. So 47 years. 200000/47 = $4255 / year Already not looking good. Figure that the average work week is 40 hours and you work 50 out of 52 weeks in a year (but you do get paid vacation) that's 2080 hours in a year. $4255/2080 = $2.04 / hour So, 1) Keith, I think you missed a decimal point somewhere. 2) Kids, you should drop out of high school now and smoke weed (if you haven't already). 3) Chemda is right to be impressed by math. ![]() Unless I missed something... |

You wouldn't take an extra four grand per year just for getting through four years of public education? |

I figured out the problem with the math, I think. Keith broke down the numbers into days per month (30) and then divided that by 40 hours a week. It should have been divided by 8, as in eight hours a day.
With Keith's 80 years, 7 days a week math it still turns out to be 87 cents more per hour. I'm a dick! |

I'm just saying for all those young, impressionable listeners that are having their lives ruined by Chemda smoking week...they can now make a more informed decision about their future (or lack thereof). |

We should tell them to go to college, all sorts of smoking opportunities there...and you make even more money than you would with a high school diploma! |

I guess if you include holidays in that, most people get between two and five weeks off per year. My place has ten holiday days and two to three weeks vacation, depending on seniority. |
